Joanne C. Anderson Obituary

Webster: Joanne C. Anderson, age 85, died on January 9th, 2022 peacefully at in-home hospice at her dear friend Dolores Young's home, where she lived. She was surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Jodie (Hubert) Mullane and her husband, Denis Mullane of Woburn, MA and their children, Stephanie (Mullane) Wankowicz, of San Francisco, CA, and Candace, and Dylan Mullane, of Woburn, MA, her son, James Edward Hubert III, and his wife, Diane (Rousch) Hubert and their children, James Hubert IV, and David Hubert, of Atlanta, GA, her son, Christopher Swartz, of Rochester, NY, and her dear, life-long friend Dolores Young.

Joanne was spirited, kind-hearted, generous, empathic, fun, humorous and a people person. Music was her passion, a dedicated singer in choral groups including 60 plus years at Third Presbyterian Church, Finger Lakes Choral Group, Rochester Oratorio Society, Eastman Chorus, and Bach Festival Chorus. Joanne promoted and supported musicians and singers including Eastman students, and other vocalists and musicians she believed in. She also promoted, marketed, and sold advertisements for musical organizations, especially for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). She loved classical music, Bach being her favorite composer. Her knowledge of musical pieces and composers was superior. Music carried her throughout the "ups and downs" in her life.

Joanne was also a devout advocate for her son, Chris along with other underserved individuals. She supported programs for LGBTQ+ individuals, and volunteer work for City Mission and the individuals who lived in group homes where Chris resided.

She loved sharing her life with her many dear, special friends and family. She was a treasured friend to Margaret for over 60 years, Bill, Bob, Alteouise, Nancy, Lee and Peter to name a few.

She loved her grandchildren and her Webster High School friend Dolores' grandchildren. She spent hours playing with them or being outsmarted by them. She rekindled her friendship with her friend Dolores at their 40th Webster HS class reunion. Despite having differing personality traits, they became best friends sharing many memories.

She loved to write and read. She was spiritual. She collected angels, cardinals, Winnie the Pooh, flowers, and folk art. Nature and birds delighted her. She enjoyed laughter and joy. She was an optimist and believed her angels would carry her through "thick and thin.". Her beautiful spirit will be missed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 1:00 PM at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street, Rochester, NY 14607.
