He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy; his children, John Gerard and Debbie Smith; his brother Jim Taffner; and his siblings-in-law, David O'Brien and Margie Rowntree.
He is survived by: his children, Lisa Werner (George), David Taffner (Broc VanAlstine) and Sarah Taffner (Todd Friga); his grandchildren, Adam Smith, Nick Smith, Kellie Satter (Jake), Anina Vancheri, Ariana Vancheri, Noah Friga and Cici Friga; his great grandchild Kellin; his sister Jane O'Brien; and his siblings-in-law, Jan Taffner and David Rowntree. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
