Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Mary for her warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While she will be deeply missed, the influence she had on the lives around her remains. Loved ones will reflect on the time spent together. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Letitia Welch (Roffe) and William Welch; her husband James Beer; her siblings, Judith Welch of Rochester, NY and William Welch Jr. (Barbara) of Salem, Ohio; and her goddaughter Lisa Jennings. She was also cherished by nieces, nephews.

In 2022, Mary was awarded an honorary Doctorate from Hobart and William Smith Colleges for her outstanding work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
