With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Merle Joseph Klingensmith of Rochester, New York, born in Grenora, North Dakota, who passed away on May 3, 2025 at the age of 93. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Merle may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Don Klingensmith and Thelma Klingensmith (Hyde); his niece Elizabeth Evans; and his brother-in-law Dr. Hilary Evans. He is survived by: his wife Maree McGauhey; his sons, Wesley (Connie) and Peter (Valerie); his sister Eunice; and his nephews, James and Jonathan. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 5 great- grandchildren.
