George D. Crego Jr. Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George D. Crego Jr. (Rome, New York), who passed away on March 24, 2020, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
George Crego was a great human being, loved his family and was a sports enthusiast, specifically the New York Giants. George was a graduate of Holland Patent High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1964-1966. On April 17, 1982 he was united in marriage to Elaine Tagliere. She passed away sadly on January 18, 2010. George worked for Coccia Brothers Service Stations for many years where he came to know many local faces. He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Jennifer (Darren) Kaczor; a daughter in law, Christine (Brian Underwood) Jones; a daughter and son in law Denise and Doug Savoy; six grandchildren Kayln Kaczor, Deforest, Justin and Coleman Savoy, Ryan Crego and Cody Crego; two nephews Todd (Pam) Crego and Donald (Tammy) Crego. He is predeceased by a son David Jones, a brother and sister in law Donald (Karen Olmstead) Crego and a nephew Shawn Crego. The family would like to thank all the staff at Onieda Healthcare Facility for everything they have done for George. Private services will be held at a later time, there will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at the Westernville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Georges memory may be made to Feed Our Vets, 268 Genesee Street, Utica NY 13502 (feedourvets.org).
