He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Bentley and Elizabeth Powers Bentley; his wife Eileen Keough; and his sisters, Doris Bentley and Joan Myler.
He is survived by: his children, James Bentley Jr. (Susan), Cathy Schillaci (Joseph), Daniel Bentley (Bonnie), Patrick Bentley and Joseph Bentley; and his grandchildren, Erika, Jason (Julia), Melissa (Peter), Kristie, Joey, Sara (Diego), Amber, Brandon, Chelsea, Ty, Trevor, Colin and Shannon. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home (807 W Chestnut St, Rome, NY 13440). A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter's Church (200 N James St, Rome, NY 13440).
