He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Bentley and Elizabeth Powers Bentley; his wife Eileen Keough; and his sisters, Doris Bentley and Joan Myler.

He is survived by: his children, James Bentley Jr. (Susan), Cathy Schillaci (Joseph), Daniel Bentley (Bonnie), Patrick Bentley and Joseph Bentley; and his grandchildren, Erika, Jason (Julia), Melissa (Peter), Kristie, Joey, Sara (Diego), Amber, Brandon, Chelsea, Ty, Trevor, Colin and Shannon. He is also survived by great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
