He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cavanaugh and Alice Cavanaugh (Smith); and his siblings, Alice, Barbara Cavanaugh, Eleanor Barrella, William and Paul Cavanaugh.

He is survived by: his siblings, Debra Cavanaugh, Roberta Millette (Tom), Mary Burris and Robert Cavanaugh. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
