With solemn reverence, we commemorate Ronald A. Ruane of Rome, New York, whose life came to an end on February 2, 2026 at the age of 97, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Ruane and Gretta Colp Ruane; his wife Barbara Schraml; his daughter Cynthia June Ruane; his siblings, June Hartness and Leonard Ruane; and his stepfather James Norton.
He is survived by: his daughters, Debra Brown (James) of Naples, FL and Lynda Jones (David) of Rome; his grandchildren, Peter Jones (Rebecca), Thomas Jones (Denise), Dr. Steven Jones (Taylor), Amy Graham-Brown and Matthew Brown; his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kyle, Ryan, Khloe, Carter, Owen, Charlotte and Griffin Jones; his close friends, Dan, Jeanne Kelly and Joanne Iannotti; and his caregivers, Mary R. and Mary N.. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home (807 W Chestnut St, Rome, NY 13440). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, February 11th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Church (1807 Bedford St, Rome, NY 13440).
