He was predeceased by: his parents, Ames A. Tardio and Marie Antongniottzi Tardio. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Tardio; his children, Christine Tardio, Robert Tardio Jr. and Douglas Tardio; and his grandchildren, Ames Tardio, Ethan Tardio, Caitlin Tardio and Collin Tardio.
He also maintained a long and meaningful relationship with the University of Maryland, serving as a Regent and as the founding Chairman of the University of Maryland Foundation for more than a decade.
