He was predeceased by : his wife Suzanne Crosby Murphy. He is survived by : his children, Emilie Murphy (Byron Nimocks), Thomas S. Murphy Jr. (Karen Murphy), Kathleen Murphy (John Seiner) and Mary Conlin (John Conlin). He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

One of the most respected and admired businessmen of his era, Murphy was also named a Disney Legend in 2007 for his contributions to the Company.
