She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Claus and Lelah Claus (Smith); her husband David G. Hayes; her in-laws, Alfred and Marguerite Hayes; her aunts, Evelyn Hansen (George), Kate Claus and Marion Darling (Ken); her siblings, Peter Claus, Jeffrey Claus, Bonnie Claus and Kellie Fiskaa; her cousin Linda Myers; her great-aunt Helen; her uncle Wesley Smith; and her niece Alyssa Paratore.
She is survived by: her children, Mindy Mackesey (Tim), Molly Hayes and Adam Hayes (Tara); her grandchildren, Shannon Ellen Mackesey (Toot), Kyle Alfred Hayes (Kristina), Seth Bly (Tia), Austin Hayes, Adam Hayes and Taylor Nicole Hayes (Tater); her sibling's children, Liz Vickers (Todd), Corey, Haley, Tami, Peter, Chad, Danny, Heather, Dana, Jordan, Tyler, Zach, Bobby, Jen Williams, Tracy Nunez (Dan) and Gavin Koss (Sarah); her sister-in-law Katch Williams (Bob); her cousin Doug Stowell; her friend Louise; Shawn Claus.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (32 W Main St, St Johnsville, NY 13452).
Janey loved her animals; any memorial contributions can go to the Herkimer Humane Society, 514 State Route 5s, Mohawk, NY 13407, honoring her life.
