He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Kaplan and Rhoda Joan Cohen Kaplan; and his brother Elliot Irving Kaplan. He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, Barbara Kleine Ruben, Arthur D. Ruben and Robert Carlisle; and his sibling's children, Rachael Yamagata, Benjamin Yamagata, Joshua Ruben and Daniel Carlisle.
