Mildred VanValkenburgh Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mildred VanValkenburgh of Saugerties, New York, born in Nutley, New Jersey, who passed away on June 7, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Johnson and Martha Johnson; her husband George VanValkenburgh; and her siblings, William and Evelyn.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Chrystie (Norman) of Saugerties, NY, Kathy Shindledecker (Larry) of East Bend, NC, Stephen VanValkenburgh of Winston-Salem, NC, Thomas VanValkenburgh (Cheryl) of Saugerties, NY and Beth Bender (Jeff) of Elkhart, IN; and her grandchildren, Rebecca Chrystie, Sarah Chrystie, Michael Chrystie, Karen Flinchum, John Shindledecker, Emily Shindledecker, David Shindledecker, Aaron Shindledecker, Joel VanValkenburgh, Megan Tenore, Philip VanValkenburgh, Travis Bender and Scott Bender-Wall. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Rhinebeck, NY. (9 Astor Dr, Rhinebeck, NY 12572). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Mission Fund at First Baptist Church.
