It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Helene E. Brand Wetzel (Schenectady, New York), who passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Otto Brand and Dacy Brand (Joos); her brother Otto Brand; and her friend Lawrence Kahre. She is survived by: her friend Ed Lamby; her children, Dr. Frederick Wetzel (Shannon), Deborah Connors (James) and David Wetzel (Kelly); her grandchildren, Jonathan Wetzel (Kimberly), Brittney Wetzel Stewart (Charles), Austine Martin (Sean), Maxine Wetzel, Aria Wetzel, Robert Connors (Mary), Juan Pantaleon, Matthew Wetzel (Kendra), Mackenzie Wilson (Nathan) and Meghan Kordyjak (Timothy); her brother Harry Brand; her sister-in-law Mary Ann Brand; and her friend Diane Goldsmith. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Zion Lutheran Church (153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12308). A burial will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM at the Historic Vale Cemetery (907 State St, Schenectady, NY 12308).
