He was predeceased by: his parents, Severiano Vara and Rose Palma Vara. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Vara (Yakubec); his children, Rick Vara (Julie), Linda Vara Kelley and David Vara (Rosemary); and his grandchildren, Lauren Vara, Thomas Vara, Abby Vara and Mary Kelley.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home (1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam, NY 12306). A graveside service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery (611 Duanesburg Rd, Rotterdam, NY 12306).
