He is survived by: his son Edward Varno (Ileen); his grandchildren, Edward Varno Jr. and Rachel Stirzaker; his son Mark Varno (Patricia); his grandchildren, Thomas and Robert Varno; his daughters, Kathlyn Diebel, Patricia Varno and Elizabeth Brouker (Jeffrey); his grandchildren, Francesca, Frank and Christopher Futia; his great grandchildren, Albie, Oliver, Sofia, Edward, Evie, Thomas, Finley, Gabriel, Ellie, Caroline, Rocky and Waylen; and his brothers, Rev. John Varno and Edward Varno.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Daly Funeral Home, Inc. (242 McClellan St, Schenectady, NY 12304). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish (1803 Union St, Niskayuna, NY 12304). A burial was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery (2501 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Niskayuna, NY 12309).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Firefighters Cancer Fund, 1242 Fourth Avenue, Schenectady, NY 12303.
