He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Altemus and Veronica Altemus (Boudreau); and his wife Patricia Ann Altemus. He is survived by: his siblings, Lyndy Brantley, Leslie Pritchard, Richard Altemus, Frederick Altemus and Edward Altemus; his children, Kelly Wayand, John Patrick Altemus (Gidget) and Bruce Altemus (Christine); his grandchildren, Marissa Chunn, Brittany Wayand, Justin Wayand, Jacob Altemus, Dylan Altemus and Ryan Altemus; and his great grandchildren, Skylar, Finnley, Grant, Jake and Lylah.
