He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Augusta and Edward; his sister Maryann MacCrate; his sibling's children, John "Scott" MacCrate, Sharon MacCrate and Michael (Karen); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Everett, Evaley and Nezzy.
In his later years, Gene owned a 1925 Model "A" and a 1919 Model "T", the later which he recently donated to the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook.
