He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester J. Burling and Lorraine Burling; and his sister Dorothy Allen (Marvin). He is survived by: his pet Cracker; his wife Shirley E. Burling; his children, Melody DeBruyn (Gordon Sr.), Terry Burger, Kim Philips (James) and Darryl Burling (Jackie); and his grandchildren, Gordon Jr. DeBruyn (Joyce Reggiero), Jason Burger (Nicole), Christina DeBruyn, Jeremy Burger (Sarah), Robert Markese, Nicholas Markese (Stephanie Barbor) and Amanda Burling (Robbie Barch). He is also survived by his 12 great-grandchildren; and his special four-legged companion.
