He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward F. Ellithorpe and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Ellithorpe. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl; his children, Geoffrey and Morgan (Tyler Nichols); his grandsons, Owen and Lincoln; his siblings, Kathy Meadows (Terry), Dawn Bahns (Thom), Bill (Kathy), Randy (Chris) and Brian (Kris); and his stepmother Lois Ellithorpe Merrill.
