He was predeceased by: his father Richard DeRoo; his stepfather Thomas Dawes; his parents-in-law, Charles and Patty Hackett; and his brother-in-law Charlie Hackett.
He is survived by: his wife Debra; his mother Lorraine DeRoo-Dawes (Montondo); his children, Jared DeRoo (Niccalet) and Sierra DeRoo (James); his grandchildren, Arianna, Jade and Kenny; his sisters, Barbara DeRoo (Roger), Sandra Lagree (Larry) and Sharon Dzielak (Ken); and his brother-in-law Greg Hackett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
