He was predeceased by : his parents, William Gilbert and Mary Gilbert (Soles); his daughter Tracy Kurtz; his granddaughter Ashley Kurtz Sheppard; and his siblings, William Gilbert, Jr. and Joanne Addabbo.

He is survived by : his wife Donna Weare; his sons, John (Mary), David (Stephanie), Donald (Christine) and Terry Gilbert (Heidi); his grandchildren, Desirae, Chelsea, Forrest, Nicole, Donavan, Delaney and Jack; and his great grandchildren, Grant, Drake and Jackson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
