He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Gager and Rita Gager; his sister Diane Hoffman; his nephew Robert Hagen; and his niece Katie Gager.

He is survived by: his daughter Leah Marie Barger (Zebulon); his stepdaughter Sarah Roberts; his siblings, Sean Gager (Penny), Donna Hagen (Kenneth Van Alstyne) and Mary Tice (Robert); and his niece Michele Hagen. He is also survived by grandsons, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews.
