He was predeceased by: his father Ernest H. Cowell, Sr.; and his brother Darryl Cowell. He is survived by: his mother Bernice Cowell of Elizabeth City, NC; and his siblings, Joan Lamison of Richmond, VA, Linda Cowell-Pritchard of Riverhead, NY and Ernest H. Cowell, Jr..
