Rita Gibson Obituary

We bid farewell to Rita Gibson of Stuyvesant, New York, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on September 12, 2024 at the age of 73. Rita touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, John "Jack" McCarthy and Veronica "Ronnie" Tietjen McCarthy; her siblings, John "Jack", Robert "Bob", Thomas "Thom" and Agnes; her sister-in-law Drucilla McCarthy; and her nephews, Joseph and Michael Cunneen.

She is survived by: her son William "Billy" (Charlotte Wilkinson-Gibson); her siblings, Alice Cunneen (Joe), Terence (Mary Lorraine) and Edward McCarthy (Maureen); and her sister-in-law Susan McCarthy (Louise McCarthy).

It has now grown into the Sunset Foundation, who supports anyone battling cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rita's name to the Sunset Foundation at 207 Oceanside, Rockaway Point, NY 11697 or the Rockaway Point Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Corps Inc. at 204-26 Rockaway Point Blvd., Rockaway Point, NY 11697.
