He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Mapes (Hough) and Theodore Mapes Sr.; his brother Richard; his wife Marcy; his son Theodore; and his granddaughter Colleen Montague (Mapes).
He is survived by: his children, Dorothy Rogers (Mapes) and Patrick Mapes (Julie); his grandchildren, Victoria, Shannon, Theodore, David, Scott and Marcy; and his significant other Mary Dinterman. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
