He was predeceased by: his parents, Carole M Birkland and Bjarne J Birkland; his uncle Gary Birkland; and his aunt Lillian Potts. He is survived by: his brother Karl Birkland (Teri) of North Carolina; his aunts, Jean Munyon (Joseph) of New York and Susan Vreeland (Bob) of Michigan; and his uncle Bob Potts of Indiana.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John's Memorial Cemetery (1704 NY-25A, Syosset, NY 11791).
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
