She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. William Burke and Marion Goetz Burke; her husband Bill Maher; her children, Mary Ellen and Billy Maher; her brother William Burke, Jr.; and her siblings-in-law, Dr. John, Margaret Maher and Mary Jane Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Maureen La Piana (Vincent) and Greg Maher (Sue Ellen); her grandchildren, Christopher, John, Emily Maher, Jay and Caroline La Piana; her siblings, Nancy Stetz and Dr. David; and her siblings-in-law, Judie Burke and Donald Smith. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leviticus Fund, the African Women's Education Fund, or another charitable organization.
