She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. William Burke and Marion Goetz Burke; her husband Bill Maher; her children, Mary Ellen and Billy Maher; her brother William Burke, Jr.; and her siblings-in-law, Dr. John, Margaret Maher and Mary Jane Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Maureen La Piana (Vincent) and Greg Maher (Sue Ellen); her grandchildren, Christopher, John, Emily Maher, Jay and Caroline La Piana; her siblings, Nancy Stetz and Dr. David; and her siblings-in-law, Judie Burke and Donald Smith. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Homes - Hicksville (47 Jerusalem Ave, Hicksville, NY 11801). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul the Apostle R. C. Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leviticus Fund, the African Women's Education Fund, or another charitable organization.
