Barbara VanDusen Obituary
We announce the death of Barbara VanDusen of Syracuse, New York, who passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 72. Barbara will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Barbara will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Barbara will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Barbara’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband James B. VanDusen Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Kristin Wilburn (Jon), James VanDusen Jr. and Stephen VanDusen; and her brothers, Edmund Sawicki (Leslie) and Stanley Sawicki (Jennifer). She is also survived by dog, "Goose", her five grandchildren, her three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carter Funeral Home, Inc. (1604 Grant Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13208). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Church (406 Court St, Syracuse, NY 13208-1698).
