We announce the death of Billy E. Barkley Sr. of Syracuse, New York, born in Leary, Georgia, who passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 97. Billy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Jones Barkley; and his siblings, Sara Barnett (Maxine Riley), Phil and C. B. Barkley. He is survived by: his children, Billy Barkley, Jr. (Reba), Saralyn Barkley, Mary Barkley, Willie Barkley (Carolyn), Cynthia Barkley Daniels, Timothy Barkley (Patrice), Ola Phillips, Ron Williams, Chester Williams (Jeannette), Emma Williams Kirtley, Rufus Williams, David Williams (Helen) and Robert Williams; and his close friend Worthy "Rabbit" Graham. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
