John R. Butler Obituary
We are sad to announce that on November 26, 2024, John R. Butler of Syracuse, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Butler and Margaret Butler; his siblings, James Butler and Mary Keohane; his former wife Anne Farnan Butler; and his daughters, Mary and Karen Butler Schultz.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Whelan Butler; his children, Beth Salvato (David), Richard Butler (Stephanie) and Susan Doyle (Brian); his son-in-law Vincent Schultz; his grandchildren, Alexander Kaiser Erin Rose (Chase), Bleness (Dalton), Jason Schultz, Luke Schultz, Marie Butler, Kate Butler, Aria Salvato and Maysie Doyle; his great grandchild Theodore Kaiser; his sisters, Theresa Dooher (Jim) and Dorothy Butler; and his siblings-in-law, Alice Whelan, Tom Farnan, Joan Campbell and Carol Reynolds (Leo). He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the MacArthur Funeral Home (15 Buntline Dr, Stamford, NY 12167). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, December 5th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church (27 Harper St, Stamford, NY 12167). The military honors was held on Friday, December 6th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
