He was predeceased by : his parents, Albert D. Smith and Rose Smith; and his siblings, June Mistretta, Robert Smith, Sr., Dorothy Smith and Carol Kaufman.

He is survived by : his wife Dorothy A. Smith; his children, Kenneth Smith, Wendy Gish (G. Glen), Sandra Reyes-Guerra (Richard), Douglas Smith (Coleen) and Gail Bower (Kurt); his grandchildren, G. Garett, Matthew Gish (Rachel), Deanna, Grant Reyes-Guerra, Noah, Elizabeth, Emma Smith and Kiersten Bower; and his siblings, Harold Smith (Sharon), Norma Gerland and Richard Smith (Shirley). He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.

“When I think of Al its hard not remember his accent and huge laugh. Was a pleasure to have known him and I enjoyed conversations during visits. The world could use more people like Al, not less. I'm sure there will be a hole in your hearts for some time. I'm so sorry for your loss Dorothy but I can imagine that one day you all will be sitting on some step talking about the good old days.
