He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Derk and Mary Derk (Fedyna); and his wife Jan Derk (Rogers). He is survived by: his sister Carole Rubenstein (Charles); his daughters, Jennifer Smith (Alan) and Melissa Vanelli (Joseph); his grandchildren, Jordyn Vanelli-Pladas (Anthony), Malory Vanelli, David Smith, Maranda Vanelli and Sarah Smith; his great grandchild Audrey Pladas; his stepchildren, Eric Sears (Paula), Cheryl LeClair and Kevin Sears (Penny); and his grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Hunter and Lilly.
