He was predeceased by: his wife Delores; his son Edwin Sontag; and his siblings, Kenneth Sontag, Ronald Sontag, Dick Sontag and Joyce Hook.
He is survived by: his sisters, Sue Kieta (Jerry), Joan Metzger (Al) and Janice Doucher; his daughters, Catherine Freeman (Tim) and Debra Sontag; his grandchildren, Tara, Jennifer, John (Ilianna) and Brittany (Josh); and his great grandchildren, Madison, Evan, Jackson, Isla and Elijah. He is also survived by extended family and many friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Tonawanda Chapel (2600 Sheridan Dr, Tonawanda, NY 14150). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
