He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Rutledge and Verna Jane Rutledge Conn; and his siblings, Thomas, Charles D., Kenneth and Doris Sue.
He is survived by: his children, John R. Rutledge, Jacqueline K. Peffer (William) and Jeffrey L. Rutledge (Susan); his sister Betty Duane; his grandchildren, Daniel Peffer, David Peffer, Elizabeth Rutledge-Aikens, John E Rutledge, Sara Jacoby, Annie Rutledge, Aliza Rutledge and Jenny Rutledge; and his great grandchildren, Daemyn Peffer, Arie Peffer, Gaige Peffer, Hudson Peffer, Elle Peffer, Alyssa Jacoby and Anna Jeanne Aikens. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
