He was predeceased by: his son Kevin C. Long; and his siblings, John, Thomas, Dennis and Shannon Long.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Kucharski Long; his daughters, Bridget Castlevetere (Jason), Maggie Szymkowiak (AJ) and Caitlin Burns (Dave); his grandchildren, Caleigh, Evan, Abigail, Ella, Shannon, Lauren and Holly; his siblings, Patrick (Isabella), Brian (Mary Beth) and Mary Kate (Debbie Zygaj); and his brothers-in-law, John (Linda) and Mark Kucharski.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Buffalo Inc., 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, New York, 14227, or to St. Luke's Mission of Mercy, 325 Walden Ave., Buffalo, New York, 14211.
