He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Boland and Alice O'Keefe Boland. He is survived by: his children, Patrick Boland (Sandy), Bridget Enderle (Charlie) and Maureen Lindell (Ron). He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“To the family of Richard Boland, Richard was a dear friend of our family at the New York State and at Irish festivals. We are not sure if this is the same Richard we knew and loved. He would always tease me when Limerick didn't win the hurling. We we won this year and I didn't hear from him so I got worried. We are so very sad to hear of his passing. He was a devoted friend to us and love our music at the Agricultural museum each year coming to hear us daily for all of our shows.”
