He was predeceased by: his brothers, Frankie Hathaway, Charles Swanson and James Hathaway II; and his sister-in-law Angie Hathaway. He is survived by: his wife Jessica Marie Hathaway; his children, Gage Hathaway, Mariah Hathaway, Zebulun Thrane, Jazmynne Thrane, Nevaeh Hathaway and Abigail Hathaway; his grandchildren, Mason Hathaway, Cole Hathaway and Nataleigh Marie Thrane; his parents, Hope Schermerhorn and James Hathaway Sr. (Tammy); his siblings, William Hathaway, Ronnie Stark, Brian Stark, Floyd Hathaway, Hope Hathaway (Sha Wells) and Faith Santanna; his sisters-in-law, Heidi Hathaway, Amber Hathaway and Kari Canfield; his parents-in-law, Jennifer Gorecki (William) and Theodore Thrane Sr. (Laurie); and his brother-in-law Theodore Thrane Jr. (Amanda). He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews.
