He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph F. Rooney Sr. and Ann Owens Rooney; and his siblings, George M. Rooney, Nancy A. Sullo and Joseph F. Rooney, Jr..
He is survived by: his significant other Phyllis Wagar Rooney; his sons, Michael T. Rooney (Juliette Rooney Varga) of Somerville, MA and David P. Rooney (Lani); his grandchildren, Stephani Sumner (David), Caleb, Jordan and Nathaniel Rooney; his great grandchildren, Maggie and Hughie Sumner; his brother John T. Rooney (Mary Ellen) of Anaheim Hills, CA; his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Rooney (Sylvia Rooney) and Ronald Wagar; his close friend John Connolly; and his caregiver Robin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. (276 Pawling Ave, Troy, NY 12180). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Thomas D. Rooney to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
