With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Agnes E. Smith of Utica, New York, who passed away on August 4, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Nelson-Lindsay Benbow and Charlotte Benbow; her husband Nathaniel Smith; her siblings, Moses Benbow, Elijah Benbow, Willie Benbow, Abraham Benbow, Issac Benbow, Ada Levy, Willar Mae Lemon, Irene Sabb, Maggie Mae Baker and May Etha Burk; and her nephew Jesse Dennis.
She is survived by: her children, Albertis Miller (Melvinea), Winston Smith, Kenneth Smith, Nathyln SmithSavage (Curtis) and Shakina Benbow; her sister Roberta Cubbage McCray; her nieces, Tracey Adams and Louberta Dennis; and her goddaughters, Kelly Smith Paulson and Anita Taylor. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
