It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Welch of Utica, New York, who passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Shirley Welch to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Alger and Helen Alger (Flaherty); her husband Irving Welch; her brother Russell Alger of Florida; and her brother-in-law Robert Wentka of New Hartford.
She is survived by: her children, Susan Welch of Utica, Michael Welch (Rhonda) of Frankfort and Kathleen Welch of Clinton; her grandchildren, Haleigh Welch (Wesley) of Herkimer and Shawn Welch of Utica; her sisters, Patricia Wentka of New Hartford, Bette DiNardo (Michael) of Utica and Mary Bord (Whitney) of Florida; and her sister-in-law Germaine Alger of Florida. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Utica Fire Department or Hospice & Palliative Care in her memory.
