He was predeceased by : his parents, William Gayton and Helen Gervais Gayton; and his siblings, Thomas, William Gayton and Dolores Knoerzer.

He is survived by : his son John "Jack" Gayton (Kellie) of Montgomery; and his granddaughters, Taylor Gayton, Lindsey Gayton and Cameron Gayton. He is also survived by his family and friends.
