He was predeceased by: his parents, James Alwell and Eleanor Dieterich Alwell; his siblings, James Alwell, James B. Alwell and Joanne Alwell; and his father-in-law Walter H. Schneider.
He is survived by: his wife Debra Schneider Alwell; his children, Beth Anne Grillo (Louis) of Wallkill, NY, Kimberly Jane Alwell of Wallkill, NY, Heather Allen (Eric) of Voorheesville, NY and John Minckler (Leanne) of Poughkeepsie, NY; his foster daughter Paula Edwards (David) of West Hurly, NY; his grandchildren, Isabel, Adalynn, Henry, Ethan, Evelyn, Renae and Jorden; and his sisters, Eileen Parr (Tom) of Pine Bush, NY and Mary Greynolds (Barry) of Livingston Manor, NY. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Millspaugh Funeral Directors (22 Bank St, Walden, NY 12586). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (2520 NY-208, Walden, NY 12586).
