He was predeceased by: his parents, Madoline Schoonmaker and Roland Schoonmaker; his wife Carol; his son Mark Douglas Schoonmaker; and his brother Gerald Schoonmaker.
He is survived by: his brother Glenn Schoonmaker; his children, Michael S. Schoonmaker (Sharon), Allen P. Schoonmaker (Nance) and Amanda L. Grey (Tom); his daughter-in-law Christine Pennes (Vic); his grandchildren, Vaughn Trudeau, Logan M. Schoonmaker, Elan M. Schoonmaker (Daniela), Erin Grey Kachur (Sergey), Ryan T. Grey, Mark D. Schoonmaker Jr., Riley L. Schoonmaker and Roland S. Schoonmaker; and his great grandchildren, Miles Henley Schoonmaker and Stella June Schoonmaker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Millspaugh Funeral Directors (22 Bank St, Walden, NY 12586). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Westminster Presbyterian Church (614 Station Rd, Rock Tavern, NY 12575).
