She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Petro and Anna Petro; and her siblings, Thomas, Lucille and William.
She is survived by: her husband Donald B. Smith; her children, Donald Smith (Elizabeth) of Wappingers Falls, NY, Lynne Smith (Cynthia (CiCi)) of New Fairfield, CT, Lauren Davis of Fishkill, NY and Daniel Smith of Bushkill Falls, PA.; her close friend Jerry Martin; her grandchildren, Victoria Doughty (Matthew) of Poughkeepsie, NY, Anthony Stracquadanio of Astoria, NY, Steven, Donald and Brittney Smith of Wappingers Falls, NY.; her great grandchildren, Benjamin and Nate Doughty; and her family Momma.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home (55 E Main St, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's honor to the Alzheimer's Association (http://alz.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
