He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Donnelly Hewitt; his sister Hilda Dodge; and his parents, Frank Hewitt and Dorothy Armstrong Hewitt. He is survived by: his daughters, Marie O'Brien (Tim) and Shirley Ware (David); his grandson Patrick Francis O'Brien (Vienna); his great grandchildren, Verona and Bray; and his siblings, Sybil Utterback Dorothea Potter (Url) and Harris Hewitt (Charlotte). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
