He was predeceased by: his mother Catherine "Kay" LaGatta. He is survived by: his wife Colleen Moore Hamel; his children, Ashley Hamel (Emily) and Matthew Hamel; and his siblings, Barbara Shaver (late Phillip), Thomas Hamel (Lillian), Mary Lou Hamel, Robert Hamel (Barbara), Theresa Hamel and Samuel LaGatta. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, and the granddaughter.
