He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Neilson Sr. and Evelyn Eriksen Neilson; his wife Claire Soulier Neilson; and his siblings, Florence Marco, Carol, Sally and Gerald Neilson.
He is survived by: his children, Celeste Hawthorne of Cohoes, Matthew Neilson (Martina) of Troy, John C. Neilson (Iris) of Kansas and Sally St. Germain (Paul) of Troy; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Katherine Hawthorne, Christina Hobbins, Niklas Kantimm, Jason, Michael, Melody, Mary, Mason, Mattson Neilson and Parker St. Germain; and his great grandchildren, Jonathan, Charlotte, Vincent and Daniel.
