With sadness, we share the passing of Joan M. Smith (Watertown, New York). Joan, born on August 23, 1936, passed away on October 10, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Gordon Frederick; her brothers, Gordon Frederick and Richard; her sister-in-law Esther Frederick; her sister Shirley; her brother-in-law Ralph Carrier; her parents-in-law, Cedric and Bessie Smith; her brother-in-law Walter Smith; her niece Deborah Frederick; her nephews, James Carrier and Donald Frederick; and her mother Marian Ferguson Frederick.
She is survived by: her husband Ed; her children, Larry Smith (Clare Rooney) and Lisa LaPier (Roland); her grandchildren, Lacey Shambo (Dave McCabe) of Watertown and Tyler Shambo (JaLynne) of Watertown; her sisters-in-law, Deanna Smith, Rodman, Barbara Passino and Georgia; Ava McCabe. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A prayer will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home (632 State St, Watertown, NY 13601-2839).
