He was predeceased by: his father Watertown Mayor Karl R.; and his brother James D.. He is survived by: his mother Rosemary L. Burns (Lawrence); his sons, K. Colin Burns of Watertown and Dane P. Burns of Watertown; his sisters, Kathleen A. Burns and Nancy L. (Thomas M. Blake); his siblings-in-law, Mary and Edward Amelio; his aunts, Patricia Murnane (Jim), Audrey Lawrence and Josephine Burns; and his uncle Allen Walker. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
